Plenium

A Plenium in the data centres, is the name of the space between the structural ceiling and the sunroof, typically providing air circulation for cooling, ventilation and air conditioning. In the Data Centre, the plenum area is often used to accommodate the link communication cables. Plenium cables are covered with flame-retardant cables.

Plenum Areas provide two solutions when there is a fire. First, in obligatory cases plenium gaps are loaded with fresh oxygen. The second issue is that the smoke left in the plenium is pumped to the rest of the building. For this reason, in the event of any danger in the Data Centre, the Plenum area provides maximum security with special constructions.
